France elected a socialist president so its government can try to tax-and-spend itself to prosperity. The French will find, like us, that government squandering money works so well.

On Sept. 11, some of my relatives in New Jersey who work in New York watched the twin towers burn. I wish they had been with me as I flew out of Newark Airport recently and got a bird’s-eye view of the Statue of Liberty and that gleaming new Freedom Tower. What a sight, what a resilient city.

The city needs to quit picking on these people who own inflatables companies. My grandson plays at such a place in Texas and has a wonderful time. I think the city is trying to make an example of these people.
Most motorists choose to violate traffic laws and want to criticize the police when given a ticket for a violation. I agree with one Opinion Line contributor: The root of most problems is the lack of personal accountability. Our jails are full of those who want to blame someone else for their predicament.
