The United States was not founded as a Christian nation. Furthermore, although it has been beneficial that a significant number of citizens are Christian, the U.S. has not been successful primarily because of the Christians. The U.S. has been successful primarily because of capitalism and separation between church and state.
The Christian right is spelled out in the Constitution. Concerning the question of left-leaning Christians: I would say there are a few but they are difficult to recognize.
Once again a madman on a college campus proves that so-called gun-free zones are not sacrosanct. We continue to disarm law-abiding citizens and leave them unprotected against criminals who pay no more attention to the gun prohibition than they do to the prohibition on killing people.
There is no comparison between standing your ground as you defend yourself in your home and a guy who stalks someone after being told not to and then shoots him down.
Under President Obama, more Americans have lost jobs and homes and fallen into poverty than at any time since the Great Depression. Democrats will go to any lengths to avoid talking about Obama’s colossal failures.

Some people think magic will happen with an alternative fuel if we just raise gas prices to $5 a gallon. Then they should pay $100 a gallon, and it would happen even faster. Let’s do that. Our schools have created that kind of illogical thinking.
The state and the city are going to team up and search for oil in Sedgwick County. I wonder what harebrained scheme or private business they’re going to give that money to. Or is that the harebrained scheme itself? Another waste of tax money.
The incompetence of our City Council is plain to see. We learn Century II has a $500,000 annual deficit. Yet the council wanted to divert Century II funding from the hotel guest tax to developers.
So Gov. Sam Brownback is upset that “pink slime” is being removed from our meat – big surprise. Leave it to the Republicans to put money, profit and business ahead of what’s good for the public. Why do you think they kept pink slime secret for 20 years?
I now know I made a mistake voting for Gov. Sam Brownback. That is one mistake I will not be repeating.
