Gov. Sam Brownback’s secret meetings were not a mistake. He is a career politician who knew exactly what he was doing. It was exactly what we warned everyone he would do if elected – bring sleazy Washington, D.C., politics home with him to Topeka. You can call it a lot of things, but don’t call it a mistake.
So Brownback and some legislators get together and talk shop. Shocking. Wonder what doctors or plumbers or baseball players or newspaper people talk about when they get together.

If Secretary of State Kris Kobach were a liberal, The Eagle editorial board would commend him for being “proactive” in regard to voter-ID laws.
George Zimmerman gave up his right to a self-defense ploy when he continued to follow Trayvon Martin after the 911 dispatcher told him not to do that.
Apparently the “stand your ground” law works only one way. Martin was being stalked by a stranger with a gun. He probably feared for his life. Wasn’t it his right to “stand his ground,” too? He wasn’t the one with the gun. If Martin had lived, would they have arrested him or let him go, like Zimmerman? What a stupid law.
People are crossing a very dangerous line by convicting Zimmerman in the press and causing there now to be a mob out after him. And these lawless people think they are creating justice. They don’t even know the facts yet.
It once again seems like people have a tendency to react before they know all the facts. There are always two sides to every story. Although the sad shooting of the young man in Florida is tragic, so is the senseless killing of people of all races that takes place every day. Remember, we all put our pants on the same way.
Whether the story is Tawana Brawley, the Duke lacrosse team or Trayvon Martin, the leftist media refuse to acknowledge facts and would rather follow racist hucksters like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. You are all fools.
To the woman who stated in Opinion Line that she felt like an intruder at a rally for Trayvon Martin: You weren’t an intruder. There is violence against women every day, black or white or any other race. Where are the rallies for that?
Why don’t we get the New York Jets to train in Wichita?
How many women on the right have the guts to speak out? Or have their partners taken control and silenced their voices?
Why are people still wasting all that money on cable TV when they can pay $10 a month for Netflix? I’d rather be behind on the latest shows than on my latest bills.
