Key legislative elections in south-central Kansas

AP

Moderate Republicans made big gains in the Aug. 2 primaries, but there could be even more shakeups in the November general election. The Lawrence Journal-World recently listed nine key legislative races this fall, four of which are in south-central Kansas: Democrat Lynn Rogers and Republican Jim Price in Senate District 25; Sen. Mike Peterson, R-Wichita, and Democrat Keith Humphrey in Senate District 28; Democrat Don Shimkus and Republican Larry Alley in Senate District 32; and Rep. Joe Scapa, R-Wichita, and Democrat Elizabeth Bishop in House District 88. In addition to these contests, there are several other area House and Senate races with strong matchups. – Phillip Brownlee
