Kansas election results attract national attention

Kansas primaries aren’t normally national news. But Tuesday’s defeat of many conservative incumbents drew national attention. The New York Times reported that “Republican voters in Kansas rebelled against the policies of Gov. Sam Brownback.” The Hill said voters “delivered a sharp rebuke” to Brownback. The Washington Post and other publications and national TV broadcasts reported on the defeat of U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Fowler/Hutchinson. The Wall Street Journal said Huelskamp’s defeat “suggests it’s possible for some Tea Party lawmakers to go too far in a direction considered impractical by their constituents.” – Phillip Brownlee
