The Wichita region is making good progress on meeting a five-year goal of increasing exports, particularly in non-aviation manufacturing and services. Karyn Page, president of Kansas Global Trade Services, said the effort has completed about 30 percent of its goals, which include building an export assistance system and making exporting a bigger part of local economic development efforts. Exports are a great way to grow the economy and hedge against local or national economic downturns. – Phillip Brownlee
