More than 120 companies, associations and organizations active in Kansas – including Cargill, Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Livestock Association, and the Kansas and Wichita chambers of commerce – sent a letter to the Kansas congressional delegation last week expressing their strong support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The proposed trade agreement between the United States and 11 other nations would reduce tariffs and other barriers on U.S. exports but has been held up in Congress. “The TPP is critical to the future growth of trade, jobs, prosperity and competitiveness of the United States, and for Kansas in particular,” the letter said. – Phillip Brownlee
