The Eisenhower Memorial Commission released a video this week about Dwight D. Eisenhower and the planned national memorial in Washington, D.C. Narrated by retired news anchor Tom Brokaw, the video includes interviews with memorial designer Frank Gehry, President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, David Eisenhower and Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., chairman of the memorial commission. Roberts notes how Eisenhower embodied the American dream by rising from humble Kansas roots to become supreme commander of Allied forces during World War II and the 34th president of the United States. – Phillip Brownlee
