Congress’ approval rating still near record low

It turns out that Republicans, Democrats and independents all agree on one thing: They think Congress is doing a terrible job. Only 15 percent of Republicans and Democrats approve of Congress’ job performance this year, while only 14 percent of independents do. The overall average approval rating of 15 percent is only slightly better than last year’s average of 14 percent, which was the lowest rating in the 40-year history of Gallup’s survey. The divided Congress may be part of the reason for the low ratings, Gallup said, as both Republicans and Democrats are frustrated (though for different reasons). – Phillip Brownlee
