‘Nuns on the Bus’ making stop in Topeka

A group of Catholic nuns is making a stop in Kansas this week as part of the fourth “Nuns on the Bus” tour. This year’s tour is themed “Bridge the Divides” and is corresponding with Pope Francis’ visit to the United States and his call to build an economy of inclusion. The tour launches Thursday from St. Louis and plans to reach Topeka on Saturday before looping back toward Washington, D.C. The nuns plan to visit the Topeka Rescue Mission distribution center and host a town hall meeting at a Topeka church. “Pope Francis calls for an economy of inclusion,” Sister Simone Campbell said in a statement. “In order to do that, we must have a politics of inclusion that fosters economic justice, prioritizes the common good and builds community where everyone’s voice is heard.” – Phillip Brownlee
