Only about 18,000 Wichitans — or 9 percent of those eligible and registered to vote — are projected to cast ballots in today’s primary. How sad. And risky.
The fewer the voters, the greater the possibility that the voting won’t be representative of the public at large — as only a small group of motivated people can sway results. That is particularly the case in the at-large race for Wichita school board, which has 11 candidates vying for three spots on the April 5 general election ballot.
Much is at stake this election, as cities and school boards are struggling with budget shortfalls and other demands. Make your views count by voting.
