A wintry day is in store for Wichita and the surrounding area on Thursday, forecasters say.
Highs won’t make it out of the mid- to upper 30s, with sunny skies and variable winds. North winds early will push into the low teens, forecasters say, but when winds shift to the south later they’ll gust at more than 20 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will drop to the upper 20s, and those south winds will help vault temperatures into the 50s on Friday. The south-southwesterly winds will shift back to the north on Friday, forecasters say, with gusts nearing 25 miles an hour at times.
The weekend will bring a mixed bag of weather. Saturday will be partly sunny and breezy, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 40s and north winds gusting at nearly 30 miles an hour. Sunday will be cold, with highs only in the low 30s and wintry precipitation arriving late.
