The rains keep coming for Wichita.
Showers just as the morning commute reached a crescendo gave Friday a soggy start, with the start of the work day marked by a downpour downtown. The official rainfall total in southwest Wichita next to Eisenhower National Airport since the rain began late last night was .17, National Weather Service meteorologist Vanessa Pearce said.
The precipitation boosted Wichita’s rainfall total for August to 7.01 inches, which is more than 5.75 inches above normal for this time of the month.
More rain is possible later Friday morning before the clouds begin to break up, according to the forecast.
