August will get off to a sizzling start in the Wichita area.
Highs are expected to climb near 100 for much of the week, forecasters say, with abundant sunshine and light southerly winds. For most of this week, those winds won’t be strong enough to reach double digits.
The heat index will hover between 100 and 105 over the next several days, according to the National Weather Service.
There’s a chance isolated thunderstorms could pop up and deliver rain to small geographic areas, according to the weather service, but organized storm systems are not anticipated over the next several days.
