A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Highs today are expected to peak in the mid- to upper 90s under sunny skies, forecasters say, with light south winds occasionally nudging the teens. Overnight lows won’t drop below the mid-70s, and then Wednesday will offer highs touching triple digits.
The heat index could reach 105 on Wednesday, according to the weather service. Winds will remain out of the south, but they’ll be stronger. Steady breezes will reach the upper teens, with gusts approaching 25 miles an hour.
Highs should top the 100 mark Thursday and Friday, forecasters say.
