There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon in the Wichita metropolitan area, forecasters say.
Chances are highest after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Before then, skies will be mostly sunny with highs touching 90. Winds will be light out of the southwest, staying in the single digits.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the region early Friday morning and again late Friday night, forecasters say. Highs on Friday should only reach the mid-80s. Southerly winds will remain light.
The first part of the holiday weekend looks rainy, forecasters say, though Independence Day is shaping up to be pleasant: partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80s.
