Wichita weather for Tuesday: Hot and humid

A hot, humid day awaits Wichita on Tuesday, forecasters say.

Highs should reach the mid-90s under sunny skies, with the heat index expected to top 100. Southerly winds will be in the teens, gusting at times to nearly 25 miles an hour.

Overnight lows will settle in the mid-70s, as south winds ease to the low teens. Wednesday will be hotter still, forecasters say, with highs reaching 100.

A slight chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives Thursday, dropping highs back to the mid-90s.
