The first day of summer will live up to its label in the Wichita area on Monday, forecasters say, with highs in the mid-90s on a sunny day.
The heat index is likely to climb into triple digits, boosted by humidity in the region. Winds will be light out of the south and southwest, staying in single digits, forecasters say.
Overnight lows will bottom out in the low 70s, with Tuesday’s temperatures again reaching the mid-90s. South winds will be more robust than Monday, forecasters say, with steady breezes in the teens and gusts pushing toward 25 miles an hour.
Highs on Wednesday will flirt with 100, with south-southwest winds topping 30 miles an hour in gusts.
