Kansas is holding a statewide tornado drill Tuesday as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week this week.

For most of the state, the drill will be held at 6:30 p.m. — so when tornado sirens sound tonight, do not be alarmed. No severe weather is expected today.

Seven counties in the northeast corner of the state will hold their drill at 1:30 p.m. today.

This is a good time for businesses and families alike to practice their response plans when a tornado warning is issued. It’s also a good time to replace batteries in weather radios, flashlights and other devices commonly needed in the event of an emergency.
