Wichita residents can expect a cold, cloudy and windy day Friday, with even colder temperatures expected through the weekend.

Highs will top out in the upper 30s to low 40s, forecasters say, with winds out of the north and northwest in the teens. Light rain is possible late tonight, changing over the snow through the overnight hours.

Wichita could see an inch or less of accumulation, forecasters say. Saturday will be one of winter’s nastiest in the region so far this season, with highs in the upper 20s and north winds gusting to nearly 25 miles an hour at times. Skies will clear through the day.

Sunday will be sunny and cold, with highs in the upper 20s under sunny skies, forecasters say. Winds will ease to the single digits and shift to the west.

Warmer temperatures return on Monday, forecasters say.
