Flood warning for part of Wichita metropolitan area until Tuesday night

A flood warning remains in effect until Tuesday evening for portions of northern Sedgwick County and western Harvey County.

The Little Arkansas River near Sedgwick is expected to crest at about 25.6 feet Monday afternoon, more than 3 feet above flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.

At 26 feet, roads flood around Ridge Road and 109th Street. Agricultural flooding also occurs.

The river will fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Rural flooding is reported in numerous central Kansas counties following weekend rains.

As much as 4 inches of rain fell near Goessel in Marion County, according to the weather service.

Slightly more than an inch of rain fell in Wichita on Saturday night and Sunday, lifting the moisture total in 2015 to 40.84 inches. That’s just under 9 inches above normal and has 2015 in the Top 10 of wettest years in Wichita history.
