Wichita weather: Very windy, with highs in the 60s

A blizzard in northwest Kansas. Severe weather, including possibly some tornadoes, in Missouri, Iowa and Illinois.

In between those two extremes, it’ll be quite windy, forecasters say. Wichita could see wind gusts approaching 50 miles an hour at times on Wednesday, with steady south winds in the 20s this morning and the 30s this afternoon.

Cloudy skies will gradually clear in the Wichita area, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 60s. Overnight lows will drop to the upper 30s, with winds easing slightly to the 20s.

Thursday will be cooler, forecasters say, with highs in the low 60s under sunny skies. Northwest winds will be in the teens, gusting into the 20s at times.

Winds will finally ease on Friday as a calmer weather period arrives. Sunny skies and highs in the low 60s can be expected through the weekend, forecasters say.
