Bitter wind chills are expected Monday morning throughout much of central and south-central Kansas, including the Wichita area.
Wind chills will be below zero through midmorning in Wichita, forecasters say, with gusty northerly winds approaching 30 mph. Highs will peak in the low 30s under mostly sunny skies around Wichita on Monday, with lows early Tuesday falling to the midteens.
Winds will ease, however, helping temperatures recover to the low 40s by Tuesday, forecasters say. Winds will switch to the south during the day, staying in the single digits.
Highs will reach the mid-40s by Wednesday and Thursday, forecasters say. A slight chance of rain enters the forecast for Wednesday night, but otherwise, no precipitation is expected in the first half of the week.
