Toasty October to continue for a few more days

Wichita’s unusually warm weather for October will continue for the next several days, forecasters say.

The toasty temps aren’t limited to Kansas — the northern Plains and the West Coast are setting record highs, National Weather Service meteorologist Vanessa Pearce said.

Blame a large ridge of high pressure that has camped out over the western half of the nation for an extended period. The pattern will continue for a while, though occasional cold fronts will break through — such as later this week, when temperatures will dip to more seasonal norms.
