It might not hurt to keep a rain coat or umbrella nearby Wednesday in the Wichita area — forecasters say there’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms both today and tonight.

Highs will be in the mid-80s under mostly cloudy skies. South winds will be in the teens, with gusts topping 25 miles an hour.

Chances for rain will continue overnight and into Thursday, forecasters say, when highs will be in the low 80s. South winds will persist, but they’ll only be in the low teens.

Friday should be pleasant, forecasters say, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s.
