Intermittent showers are possible Friday and perhaps thunderstorms tonight in the Wichita area, forecasters say.
Overnight rain delivered just .01 at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport, though a downpour soaked downtown for several minutes before dawn on Friday.
Chances for evening storms increase south and east of the Kansas Turnpike, National Weather Service meteorologist Jaclyn Ritzman said.
“Wichita’s going to be right on the border” of increased chances, Ritzman said.
Highs today will be in the upper 80s, with variable winds in the teens gusting above 25 miles an hour at times. After the front has moved through, cooler temperatures will prevail.
Saturday will be sunny, with highs in the mid-70s. Sunday will offer a slight chance of showers with highs in the upper 70s.
Much of next week will see partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid-80s, forecasters say.
