After a stormy evening across much of the state, Friday and the coming weekend will be more tranquil, forecasters say.
Highs in the Wichita area will be in the upper 70s on Friday, with mostly sunny skies and north-northeast winds in the teens. Gusts will top 20 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will settle in the mid-50s, and the weekend should offer plenty of sunshine and highs in the 70s. Winds will be light out of the east on Saturday and then shift to the south on Sunday and strengthen. By Sunday afternoon, forecasters say, south winds will be in the teens and gust to nearly 30 miles an hour.
Much of next week should be sunny and breezy, forecasters say, with highs in the mid- to upper 80s.
