While August put on a pretty fair imitation of autumn in its final days, September’s starting off with a distinctly summer-like flavor in the Wichita area.
Highs today will climb into the mid-90s under sunny skies, forecasters say, with gusty south winds helping to stoke the thermometer. Steady breezes will be in the teens, with gusts topping 25 miles an hour.
Overnight lows will settle in the low 70s, forecasters say, with Wednesday offering a second helping of heat. Highs will again be in the mid-90s.
The 90s should rule the rest of the week, in fact, with the next chance for precipitation in the Wichita area arriving late in the weekend.
