It will probably be wise to keep an umbrella or raincoat within reach on Friday in the Wichita area.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through the day in the region, National Weather Service meteorologist Jaclyn Ritzman said. They could add a few hundredths of precipitation to the total that fell late Thursday night and early Friday morning.
Those raindrops have added up to .08 of an inch as of 6 a.m. Some thunder could be included in a passing cell or two, Ritzman said.
Highs are likely to top out in the upper 80s on a mostly cloudy day. Southerly winds will gust to more than 20 miles an hour at times.
More showers and thunderstorms are possible late tonight before the weekend turns sunny and pleasant. Highs should be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
