A soaking for Wichita this past weekend; Sunday’s rain set record

Courtesy of National Weather Service

All that thunder early Saturday morning didn’t bring much rain to Wichita, but Sunday more than made up for it.

The 2.50 inches that fell Sunday set a record for Aug. 23 and pushed 2015’s total to more than 32 inches — nearly 10 inches above average for this time of year.

The area now gets a few days to dry out before the next round of precipitation arrives late this week.
