Heavy rain just missed Wichita late Monday night and early Tuesday, but chances for precipitation will continue over the next two days.
The thunder and lightning that rumbled into the early morning hours only amounted to .03 of an inch at the official recording station next to Wichita Eisenhower National Airport, but radar estimates as much as 2 inches of rain fell in eastern Sedgwick County, according to the National Weather Service.
The best chances for rain in the Wichita area will come after noon, according to the weather service, with highs only in the mid-80s. Winds will be light out of the east.
Rain chances will increase overnight and then pause until Wednesday afternoon, forecasters say. Highs on Wednesday will again be in the mid-80s.
