Wichita is likely to log its third 100 of the year today, forecasters say.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. on Tuesday for 14 counties in southern and southeast Kansas, including Wichita and much of the metropolitan area. The heat index — a measure of what it actually feels like — could reach 110 at times.
South winds will occasionally touch double digits on an otherwise sunny day, forecasters say.
Tuesday will top out in the upper 90s, with winds shifting to the east and northeast but remaining light. There’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, forecasters say.
Slight chances for rain will persist through the work week, with highs in the mid- to upper 90s.
