A day after logging its first 100 of the year, Wichita looks likely to get a second helping of sizzle on Wednesday.
But then a front will move through the area, forecasters say, bringing chances for showers and thunderstorms late in the day. A few of those storms could be strong, with downburst winds possible and locally heavy rain.
Before then, highs could reach 100 again in Wichita, with southerly winds occasionally gusting into the 20s under sunny skies. The front brings a period of unsettled weather to the region, according to the National Weather Service, with chances for showers and thunderstorms persisting through the holiday period and early next week.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s in the Wichita area.
