Showers and thunderstorms are expected to sporadically roll through Wichita the rest of Friday morning before skies finally clear this afternoon, forecasters say.
Storms had delivered .19 of an inch to the recording station next to Wichita Eisenhower National Airport as of 6 a.m., said Paul Howerton, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. More rain was falling by 7 a.m.
The rain isn’t just bringing welcome moisture to the area, it’s delivering cooler temperatures, too. Highs will top out in the mid-80s today and Saturday in the Wichita area.
Sunshine is expected much of the weekend, with chances for showers and thunderstorms returning Sunday afternoon.
