Wichita weather for Tuesday: Hot and windy

Courtesy of National Weather Service, Wichita

Another hot, breezy day is in the forecast for the Sunflower State, which will be good news for farmers tackling wheat harvest.

Highs in the Wichita area will soar into the upper 90s, forecasters say, with southerly winds in the teens. Gusts will top 20 miles an hour. Factoring in the humidity, the heat index will be around 100 on Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday and Thursday will see highs in the mid-90s, forecasters say, with persistent southerly winds.

Chances for showers arrive late Thursday, with the accompanying front delivering cooler temperatures on Friday.
