Showers and thunderstorms are likely later Friday in the Wichita metropolitan area, forecasters say.
The best chances for precipitation are between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologist Vanessa Pearce said. That will affect not only the evening commute but the Riverfest parade and opening concert.
Highs will be in the upper 70s, forecasters say, with west-southwest winds in the teens. There’s a slight chance of showers on Saturday, but then several days of dry conditions arrive.
Temperatures over the weekend will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
