Wichita weather for Tuesday: A pleasant day before rains return Wednesday

Today will be a good day to mow the lawn or tackle other outdoor chores, forecasters say.

It’ll be sunny and pleasant in the Wichita area — and the rest of Kansas, for that matter — on Tuesday. Highs in south-central Kansas will touch the 70s under sunny skies, with east-southeast winds in the teens.

Overnight lows will dip to the upper 40s to low 50s, and Wednesday brings a good chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening for much of central and eastern Kansas. Highs will only be in the low to mid-60s, forecasters say.

None of the storms is likely to be severe, forecasters say, but they could bring heavy rain and prompt flooding in areas where the ground remains saturated. Chances for more rain continue through the weekend.
