Rain soaked the Wichita metropolitan area overnight, and more rain could douse the morning commute on Wednesday, weather officials said.
Thunder was rumbling in the city as dawn arrived, and forecasters say showers are possible this morning and again later today.
Highs should reach the mid-70s, with gusty south winds reaching nearly 30 miles an hour at times, forecasters say. Some storms tonight could be severe, bringing large hail, strong winds and perhaps a tornado or two.
Overnight lows will stay in the 60s, with more storms possible on Thursday as highs climb near 80.
