Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the Wichita area on Friday, forecasters say.

The greatest risk for severe storms will be along and east of the Kansas Turnpike, according to the National Weather Service. The primary threats will be large hail and damaging winds.

Highs should reach the low 90s, forecasters say, with mostly cloudy skies and light winds out of the south. Storms could persist into early Saturday.

Sunshine should return on Saturday, with highs in the low 90s and light southeast winds. Sunday should be sunny, too, with highs in the mid-90s.
