Morning showers may linger past sunrise in the Wichita area, forecasters say, before the area gets a break from precipitation.

Highs should reach the low 80s under partly sunny skies, with light winds out of the northeast. Showers will return on Saturday and Sunday, however, and rainfall could be heavy at times, forecasters say.

A National Weather Service outlook cautions that while severe storms are not expected Saturday, the stronger storms could produce small hail, 50 mph winds and brief heavy rain.

Highs will again be in the low 80s over the weekend.
