At least a half-dozen cities around Kansas — including Wichita — found themselves broiling in triple-digit heat again on Tuesday.
Hill City led the way with 102, according to the National Weather Service. Dodge City was next with 101.
Wichita, Salina, Medicine Lodge and Manhattan all checked in with 100. The heat index climbed as high as 109 in Topeka, though several cities were close to that figure.
Tuesday’s high hoisted Wichita’s total to eight 100s so far this year for Wichita, with another one expected on Wednesday.
But then cooler temperatures are expected to arrive behind a front that will bring chances for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
