It could be a stormy Thursday across parts of Kansas.
The Storm Prediction Center has much of central Kansas – including the Wichita metropolitan area – in a slight risk for severe weather. Any storms in the Wichita area will form after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Early storms will pack some large hail before they merge into a cluster moving southeast and delivering some strong winds, forecasters say.
Highs should reach the upper 90s, according to the weather service, with light south-southwest winds gaining strength later in the day. Gusts could top 20 mph.
Storms are expected to be possible into the overnight hours, forecasters say. Friday should be mostly sunny and dry, with highs in the mid-90s.
Saturday could bring Wichita its first 100-degree day of the season.
