Finger on the Weather

Wichita weather: A wet Friday?

There’s a good chance of showers and thunderstorms in south-central Kansas on Friday, forecasters say.

That means folks heading to Hutchinson for the Kansas State Fair may want to take an umbrella or raincoat – or both. Chances for rain are even higher in Hutchinson than in Wichita, forecasters say.

Highs will top out in the low 80s in Wichita under partly sunny skies. Winds will be in the teens out of the west, gusting at more than 20 mph.

Good chances for rain continue through the evening hours, forecasters say, with lows dipping into the upper 50s. Winds will shift to the north but remain hearty, with gusts pushing toward 25 mph.

Slight chances for rain will persist through the morning hours on Saturday before skies begin to clear, forecasters say. Highs through the weekend will only be in the 70s, however, before rebounding into the 80s next week.
