Wind gusts topped 50 mph by early afternoon in Russell and Ellsworth in northern Kansas, according to the National Weather Service, while gusts topped 40 mph in several locations around the state.
More robust breezes are likely on Wednesday, forecasters say, though they may not be quite as strong as over the past several days.
