Wichita hit 100 on Friday.

Well, actually, the high was 102.

That may seem like no big deal. It is August, after all.

But it’s a big deal for this August, which hasn’t logged a single 100-degree day all month, with little more than a week to go.

Friday’s 102 is only the fourth triple-digit day of the year for Wichita, which averages more than a dozen a year. Another 100-degree day is possible Saturday, forecasters say.

But cooler temperatures aren’t far off: forecasts are calling for highs in the mid-80s by later next week.
