It’ll be a warm and windy Wednesday in the Wichita area, forecasters say, with highs pushing into the 60s and south breezes gusting to more than 25 mph.
But, just as in mid-December, that unseasonably warm weather will be followed by much colder air as a winter storm pushes into the region. Winds will shift to the north as temperatures dive late Wednesday night and early Thursday. Gusts will top 20 mph at times.
Highs on Thursday will only be in the 30s on a mostly sunny day, forecasters say. North winds will ease to the low double digits.
Friday will see a wintry mix of precipitation reach Wichita, potentially making the evening commute slippery. High temps will peak in the 20s.
The weekend forecast figures to feature freezing precipitation, forecasters say, though how much remains unclear at this stage. Monitor later forecasts for updates.
