Wichita weather: A bit of snow

Wichita can expect a bit of snow early Thursday, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service is projecting no more than a trace of snow, though AccuWeather is predicting about an inch of accumulation through Thursday morning.

Missouri Department of Transportation trucks were busy Wednesday night as snow spread across the area. Meanwhile youngsters at the Line Creek Community Center found only joy in the winter weather.

Highs will reach only the low 20s, with cloudy skies and north winds in the teens. Gusts could approach 25 mph.

Overnight lows will dip to the single digits, forecasters say, with wind chills around zero. Friday will offer some sunshine but not much warmth. Highs will climb only to the mid-20s.

The weekend will be sunny and a bit warmer, forecasters say, with highs in the mid-30s.
