Lines of thunderstorms rolled through the Wichita area on Saturday afternoon and evening, but rainfall amounts varied widely across the city.
The official rainfall total for Wichita as of 8 p.m. was 0.14 inch, but much heavier rain fell downtown and in southeast Wichita, as well as west of the city and near Park City and Valley Center.
More than an inch fell northeast of Park City, and nearly 2 inches fell in southeast Wichita near the Kansas Turnpike, according to rain gauges monitored by the city of Wichita.
The heaviest rain fell along the leading edge of the front as it moved rapidly through the area, with light rain expected into the overnight hours. But Sunday should be dry in the metro area after daybreak.
