After being battered by winds of up to 80 mph on Thursday night, Wichita can expect a hot and steamy Friday.
The heat index could reach 105 degrees, according to AccuWeather, with the temperature climbing into the mid-90s on a partly sunny day. South winds will sometimes push into the double digits.
A few strong thunderstorms could pop up again along and east of the Kansas Turnpike late Friday night and early Saturday, forecasters say.
Saturday could see highs reach 100 in Wichita for the first time this year. The heat index could soar to near 110, AccuWeather predicts.

South winds will be light, gusting into the low teens on a sunny day. Sunday will be cooler, with highs in the mid-80s under mostly cloudy skies.
