Man wounds mother, kills uncle in Kansas City shooting

According to police, a man shot his mother and uncle about 3 p.m. Friday as they sat in their pickup truck in the driveway of a home in the 5100 block of Northwest Linden Road. The uncle died and the mother was in critical condition. The son later shot and killed himself.

Two people are dead and another person is in critical condition after a shooting Friday afternoon in Kansas City, North.

Police said a man, about 40, shot his mother and his uncle just before 3 p.m. as they sat in a pickup truck in the driveway of a home in the 5100 block of Northwest Linden Road. The uncle died and the mother was in critical condition. Police initially thought the uncle was the shooter’s father. The victims were brother and sister.

As officers arrived, they saw the man go into the home and they heard a gunshot soon afterward.

Tactical officers surrounded the home and some nearby residents were evacuated. Police entered the home about 5 p.m. and found the man dead.

The neighborhood is just east of I-29 and south of Northwest 72nd Street.
